Special Rituals

There are many different types of occassions that people decide to celebrate with their friends and family and within these celebrations there are many types of special rituals that you might like to include in your ceremony:

Rose Ceremony

“…….In the past, the rose was considered a symbol of love and a single rose always meant only one thing – it meant the words “I love you.” So it is appropriate that for your first gift – as husband and wife – that gift would be a single rose…….”

Sand Ceremony

“……..Each of you today bring to this ceremony a bottle of coloured sand. Each colour represents you as an individual. The things that you like, and things that you dislike, the things that you are good at and the things that you still need help with. Each colour represents your individual personality ……”

Wine box Ceremony

“A strong wooden box to hold two bottles of wine and two wine glasses is needed. The couple then each write a love-letter to the other, expressing their feelings, why and how they fell in love and their hopes for the future. They keep these letters secret and they sealed them in the box with the two bottles of wine and two glasses. The idea is then to open this box on an anniversary in the future. The couple promise to open the box, drink the wine together
and read the letter that they wrote to each other in preparation for their nuptials, as a reminder of their love.”

Wine Ceremony

“…….You drink from the same cup to be reminded that you will share pain & pleasure, struggle and hope or the years of life are as a cup of wine poured out for you to drink. The cup of life contains within it, the sweet wine of happiness, joy, hope and delight. The same cup, at times, holds the bitter wine of disappointment, sorrow, grief & despair. Those who drink deeply of life invites the full range of experiences into their being……..”

Unity Candle Ceremony

“……..During a Unity Candle wedding ceremony the mothers of the bride and groom light candles to the side of the unity (center) candle which represent the separate lives, families and experiences before the wedding day. After the exchange of vows, but before the exchange of rings the bride and groom take each side candle and light the unity candle together, uniting the families and experiences into one. ……”

Hand Fasting Ceremony

The bride and groom’s hands are joined together, usually holding hands so the wrists and pulses are touching, with a ribbon or symbolic material looped over the bride and groom’s wrists and tied by the celebrant or a friend/family member.  “…..we now bind you…hand to hand, heart to heart.   May your right hands remind you of all that is beautiful and good in your relationship, and may your left hands be a symbol of your hearts connection.  Together, these hands form the symbol of infinity . . . .”

Each ritual can be tailored to suit your beliefs and dreams for your future. Each ritual is created to suit the bride and groom on their own or to include friends/family within the Ceremony.
